Their Story Is Our Story
Our Story Has Many Chapters – Help Us Write This Chapter
Our community builds and shapes who we are. It’s the place we grow into adults, gain an education, work for a living, and build relationships. We owe a lot of what we have to our community and the people who built it.
Before seniors were seniors, they were young and active in the community. We may not see them often now because many have slowed down a bit and are more home-bound than they used to be. However, they are the ones who shaped our community and helped us create a life. We need to support them the way they supported our present community.
DSCC has been caring for seniors for over 45 years. The people who were young back then are now the seniors that we take care of. Everyone plays a part in the community’s story and everyone experiences different chapters.
It’s important that those who can help, actually do. Everybody will age. We will all be seniors eventually and making sure we live in a caring community is the best thing we can do.
Your Community Sees You
When people actively help to build up a community, it becomes a great neighborhood to be a part of, and a fine place to age.
This video celebrates us as a community. No matter where we live, we are all a part of a bigger story. The past, present, and future come together to create this story. Those who are active, those who no longer can be active, and those who are still learning, are all a part of our story. We may play a different role in the community as we age, but it is still our story.
This video was created to honor our seniors and create an easy way to share the message. We want to get the conversation started to create a united impact on those who made a vast influence on the community we have today.
A good start is demonstrating that you care. The people around you will notice the issues seniors face if the community is caring.

DSCC Creates Opportunities
DSCC connects people with volunteer opportunities. DSCC has made a huge difference in not only seniors’ lives but the lives of volunteers. Older adults continue to play an important role in our community’s story. We just have to make sure they aren’t forgotten while we build and work together to make a strong community.
People have a lot going on in their lives, sometimes making volunteering difficult. Donations support the services and programs that care for seniors and help create volunteering opportunities to help our community grow.
We all have more connections in the community than we realize. Part of taking action is getting a conversation started. Be an advocate. Talk to your employer and co-workers about getting involved. Leaders can make a huge difference. It starts with a conversation to let them know what their community cares about.
We all age. But the transition is smoother when you have a community caring for you. We are that community.
This is our chapter.
